Composer, pianist, singer-songwriter,
Pierre-Michel Sivadier could be best be situated in a poetic region
somewhere between jazz and popular song.
As a piano-player he moves between jazz improvization and silent movie accompaniment. The richness and warmth of his composition and interpretation can be heard on Paysages avec Piano, Rue Francoeur, D'amour Fou d'Amour and Coltrane à l'Instant - a special song written for Christian Vander's tribute CD to John Coltrane.
Pierre-Michel has arranged a jazz version of Carmen named Regarde Carmen with the African female singer Awa Timbo and the guitar player Didier Guegdes. Pierre-Michel has also written original songs and Regarde Carmen was played in théâtre de Caen and in jazz clubs in Paris. One of Pierre-Michel's songs Follement doux can be heard in one of the Larrieu brothers' film Peindre ou faire l'amour with Daniel Auteuil and Sabine Azema. He also composes for Céline Caussimon and Stella Vander.
Pierre-Michel Sivadier frequently works with Michel Hermon. They both played Léo Ferré's songs all over the world ( Japan, Russia, USA, Europe ). Pierre-Michel also accompanies Hermon on piano in the show " Dietrich hotel".
Pierre-Michel Sivadier played in the movie " A soldier's daughter never cries " directed by James Ivory where he met Jane Birkin. He played with her for the first time in 1999 festival d'Avignon .
Pierre-Michel Sivadier's cd " D’amour fou d’amour " was produced by Christian Vander in 1995. In D'amour fou d'amour Pierre-Michel plays and sings his own music with a modern jazz band.
Sivadier has worked with many jazzmen : Louis Petrucciani, Magik Malik, Peter Oxley. He recorded "Les Fous du Large" with his own jazz band A3 with Mishko and Yvo Abadi.
As he likes to improvise and to write music, Pierre-Michel accompanies silent movies on piano. He often plays at the Cinémathèque française or in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. He also played in the Amsterdam Filmuseum and in german film festivals. He wrote film scores ( " A ciel ouvert Casablanca " de Rachel Stella ) and he has accompanied on piano " Nosferatu " by Murnau, " Die Nibelungen " by Fritz Lang and Carl Dreyer's, Buster Keaton's , Charlie Chaplin's, Louis Delluc's films.
